Byron Faas Dead

South Pilot Boy Dies Overseas

Mrs. Clara Faas, of South Pilot, received a telegram Tuesday night from the officials at Washington announcing the death of her son Byron on October 11th from pleura-pneumonia. Byron left for overseas a few months ago.

Mrs. Faas has certainly carried her share of the war burden: Last summer her son Claude died in the navy, and now comes the news of the death of her oldest son.

Byron was well known in Williamsburg and was a graduate of the high school; upon the death of his father he assumed charge of the farm, and no young man ever more faithfully bore the heavy responsibilities. His old class mates will hear of his death with pangs of regret, and the high school service flag has been given another gold star; this makes the second golden star, -- both for boys from the Faas home.

To the mother, brother and sisters the heart-felt sympathies of the community are poured out in this hour of their great sorrow.
