Lucille K. Eckman, 85, of Amana, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Colonial Manor of Amana.

Funeral services: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Eleanor S. Hoehnle officiating.

Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery.

Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday until service time at the church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.

[Lucille Eckman was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Amana, the daughter of David and Helen Seifert Krauss. She graduated from Amana High School in 1944 and attended the Cedar Rapids Business College. She married Harold Eugene Eckman Dec 22, 1944, in Cedar Rapids.

She worked for many of the Amana businesses, including the Amana main office, Amana Refrigeration, the Woolen Mill and Krauss Furniture Shop.

She was a member of the Amana Church. She enjoyed her volunteer work at Colonial Manor of Amana for over 10 years. She was very caring and was also known to help many of the stray animals in the area.

Memorials may be contributed to Safe Haven of Iowa County.]

Lucille is survived by her husband, Harold of Amana; her son, David and wife Marina of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Greg Eckman (Molly) of Amana; and three great-grandchildren, Nikki Eckman of Cedar Rapids, Talli Krueger (Chase) of Central City and Melanie Eckman of Amana.

Also surviving are two siblings, Donald Krauss of Amana and Virginia Hoppe of Amana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Helen (Seifert) Krauss; and a brother, Marvin Krauss.
