Wilhelmine Goltz, age 97 of Middle Amana, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Colonial Manor of Amana following an extended illness. Funeral services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Peter Hoehnle officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery, Middle Amana. Friends may call from 4 to 6 P.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Middle Church. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society or Essence of Life Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.

Wilhelmine is survived by her son, Ron Goltz of Amana, and a daughter Patricia Cahill (Tony) of St. Petersburg Beach, FL.; 5 grandchildren, Jon (Tara) Childers of Middle Amana, Tonnia James (Mike) of Milwaukee, WI, Jereme Goltz of Florence, CO, Brittany Weiss (Todd) of Cedar Rapids, and Abby Goltz of Amana; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, and a brother Gustav Hergert.

Wilhelmine Hergert was born August 17, 1911 in Middle Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Gustav and Mina Kraus Hergert. She received her education in the Amana schools and worked in the communal kitchens until 1932. She married Leonard Charles Goltz October 20, 1944 in Louisiana while he was on assignment for Amana Refrigeration. Besides being a homemaker, she also worked at Amana Refrigeration, Amana Woolen Mill and the Amana Furniture Shop, retiring in 1976. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers and being an “Oma”.
