Arnold Ernst “Boots” Moessner, age 88, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, under St. Luke’s Hospice Care. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 26, 2009, First Presbyterian Church, Marengo with Rev. Gerald Rife officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery, Middle Amana, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 6 P.M. Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Helpsmeet (Mark) of Eau Claire, WI and Lauren Christiansen (Mark) of Monticello, MN; a son, Drew Moessner (Amy Clayton) of Byron, MN; 12 grandchildren, Angelique, Ian, Jaime, Joseph, Jonathan, Chris, Meredith, Kendra, Tyler, Geoff, Cameron, and Hayley; 2 great-grandchildren, Mya and Noah, a sister Katie Berger (Ray) of Middle Amana; a brother Harold (Lillian) of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lucille in infancy, a son Barry and his loving wife “Betty” in 2006.

Arnold Ernst “Boots” Moessner was born May 28, 1920 in Middle Amana, Iowa, the son of Adolph and Lina (Leischenring) Moessner. He graduated from Amana High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his return in 1945, Arnold married M. Elizabeth Tarr on October 21, 1945 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The couple made their home in Middle Amana. Arnold was employed by Amana Refrigeration as a tool engineer for 35 years. He was an accomplished woodworker who spent countless hours in his wood shop making and refinishing furniture. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marengo and the Amana Refrigeration Retirees.

This personable and genuinely nice man will be missed greatly by all his family and friends.
