Viola "Sandy" Charipar, 79, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, in Colonial Manor Care Center, Middle Amana, following an extended illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, by Elder Harold Pitz. Burial: Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Middle Amana Community Church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society.
Survivors include a brother, Ramon Goerler of Amana; her aunt, Helen Heinze of Middle Amana; and close friends, Rose Leonhardt of Middle Amana and Irene Konecny of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Viola Susan Goerler was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Amana, the daughter of Ferdinand and Esther Schaefer Goerler. She graduated from Amana High School in 1945 and the AIC Business School in Davenport. Viola "Sandy" was a bookkeeper and teller at Morris Plan in Cedar Rapids for many years. She also worked at the Colony Candle Works in Amana until retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Amana Church Society.
