Ira Walker

FLORISSANT, Mo. - Ira W. Walker, 64, of Florissant, died March 8, 1998, in Williamsburg, Iowa.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Elk Falls Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association. Contributions can be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.

Walker was born July 9, 1933, in the Belgian Congo (now Zaire), Africa, to Alva Innes and Mary Joy (Foster) Walker.

After graduating from high school in Taccoa Falls, Ga., he moved to Wichita where he married Iva Tuck of Elk Falls on Sept. 3, 1955. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wichita in 1958.

Walker was employed as an industrial engineer for Boeing Aircraft Co. in Wichita until moving to New Orleans in 1963. He remained in the aircraft industry in New Orleans and Huntsville, Ala., and in 1965 moved to St. Louis where he was employed at McDonnell-Douglas. In 1969 he entered the construction industry and was currently a project manager for Bank Building Corp.

Walker attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Florissant and belonged to the St. Louis Bottle Club.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Walker, Florissant; a son, Michael Walker, Waukesha, Wis.; a daughter, Marcia Daniels, Florissant; his stepmother, Louise Walker, Springfield, Mo.; a brother, David Walker, San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Ellen Gatts, San Jose, Calif., and Corrine Brookshire, San Miguel, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
