Interment: January 25, 2006 at Millersburg Cemetery, Millersburg, Iowa

James David Baldwin was born on November 22, 1924, near Unionville, Missouri to William and Martha Davids Baldwin. He was raised on a rural farm and attended country school. He moved to the western region of the United States and worked in various jobs. On October 3, 1943, he was married to Evelyn Kendall in Cheyene, Wyoming. The couple lived in Colorado and later moved to Iowa and farmed on various farms in Poweshiek and Iowa Counties. From 1954 to 1981, they operated a grain and livestock farm near Millersburg and raised their children there. In 1981, they moved into Millersburg and he did custom trucking. He enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, fishing and traveling. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Connie and Brad Jahlas of Victor and Robert and Kate Baldwin of Norwalk; his daughter-in-law, Dawn Baldwin of Swisher, IA; three grandchildren, Lindsay and Lacy Jahlas of Victor and Justine Baldwin of Norwalk; and five brothers, Charles Baldwin and Gerald Baldwin, both of Albuqueque, NM, Pete Baldwin of Elephant Butte, NM, Delno Baldwin of Davenport and Keith Baldwin of Centerville. James was preceded in death by his wife in 1986; his parents; one son, Dennis; and two sisters, Esther Phillips and Eva Rotz.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Iowa City and sent in care of his daughter, Connie Jahlas, 411 Third Avenue, Victor, Iowa 52347.
