Lauren W. Denzler , age 68, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Marengo with Rev. Tom Carver officiating. Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife Sharon; three children, Johnnette Lynn Ulch (Robert) of Alexandria, VA, Lori Lynn Ehlen (Andy) of Belle Plaine, and Kim Lynn Hynek (Curt) of Swisher; six grandchildren, Megan, Ben, and Jacob Ehlen of Belle Plaine, and Jesse, Calvin and Coilee Hynek of Swisher; and 2 sisters, Sharon Jacobs (Robert) of Ladora, and Linda Cruise (John) of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lauren Wayne Denzler was born August 18, 1937 in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Everette Wayne and Dena Jeannette Cronbaugh Denzler. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1955. Lauren married Sharon Kay Willie on January 14, 1961 at the First United Methodist Church in Marengo. The couple farmed in Iowa County. Lauren was a member of the National Guard for 10 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing in Canada, and auctions. He loved his grandchildren and especially enjoyed spending time with them.
