Alderica G. Newsom, age 85 of Riverside, formerly of Marengo, died Sunday, January 1, 2006 at her home in Riverside, from complications of cancer. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 6, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo where there will be a Scripture Service at 7 P.M. Memorials may be contributed to the Hospice and Caring Hands of Iowa City.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Newsom (Mike) of Brookfield, IL, and a son, John Greenwood (Joann) of Riverside; eleven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 8 brothers and sisters, and a son, George Greenwood in 1969.

Alderica Gloria Caselli was born February 1, 1920 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Antonio and Julia Caselli. She attended and graduated from the Chicago school system. Alderica married Charles Henry Newsom on May 24, 1972 in Wheaton, IL. The couple resided in rural Marengo. She was employed as an art layout specialist in a family business and as a waitress in the past. She enjoyed scrapbooking, cards and bingo.
