Charlotte M. Campbell, age 104, lifelong resident of Johnson County died Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg.

Charlotte Mae Vesely was born July 15, 1919, in Iowa County, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Helen (Jelinek) Vesely. Following graduation from University High School (U-High) in Iowa City she attended Iowa State Teachers College. On April 17, 1942, she was united ion marriage to Roland E. “Rollie” Campbell at the Evangelical Brethren Church in Sharon Center. In addition to being a farm wife, raising their children, Charlotte also for a number of years worked as one of the librarians at Northwest Junior High School and West High School.

Her family includes her children, Cheryl Manifor (John), Dale Campbell, and Stan Campbell (Marybell); grandchildren, Tamara Campbell Strecker (Chris), Dr. Jeff Campbell (Lisa Zavala), Steve Campbell (Chelsey Preston), Michelle Kelley (James), Brian Campbell (Alyssa) and Lisa Hurley (Jon); seven great-grandsons, Ethan Strecker, Jacob Strecker, Ian Kelley, Connor Hurley, Tyler Hurley, Gavin Zavala and Oliver Zavala.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Sally Campbell, siblings, Ray Vesley, Edward “Bud” Vesely Jr. and Beatrice Kesselring.

Memorial services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with private graveside services at the Sharon Center Cemetery.
