Douglas Ray Dauenbaugh was born June 7, 1951, in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Mervin and Francis (Knepper) Dauenbaugh. He grew up in Keokuk, Palo and Iowa City graduating from City High in 1969. Doug moved to Greenville, IL to attend college at Greenville College. Doug then moved to Marengo in 1985. Doug was employed at Amana Refrigeration and Victor Manufacturing, drove a school bus for Iowa Valley and Williamsburg and then was a janitor for the Williamsburg Schools. The job Doug was most proud of and enjoyed was being a minister for various Church’s. He enjoyed coaching softball, fishing, gardening, watching Iowa Hawkeye games, tinkering in his shop, church camp and coffee. Doug’s greatest enjoyment was attending any event or activity his grandchildren were a part of. Doug died on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo, at the age of 72 years.

He is survived by three daughters, Mandi (Jock) Kanke, of Marengo, Tammy Stephan, of Blairstown and Angelee (Greg) Myers, of Forsyth, IL; grandchildren, Tre and Lorenzo Gonzalez, Sahara, Carli and Hayden Kanke, Devin Stephan (Summer), Addysin Stephan, and A.J., Ava, Parker and Preslee Myers; one great-grandson, Cornelius Stephan; siblings, Paul (Nancy) Dauenbaugh, of PA, Carolyn (Ken) Loos, of TN and Joyce (Homer) Aguirre, of NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Douglas Barry Dauenbaugh and brother-in-law, Larry Combs.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Monday, April 8, 2024 at First United Methodist Church in Marengo. Visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00pm Sunday, April 7, 2024 at First United Methodist Church in Marengo. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com. Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg is caring for Doug and his family.
