Martin J. Martinson, age 47, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, with his wife Jen by his side. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy, with Rev. Gary Sears officiating. Family will receive friends from Noon until 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. The family will be present from 3 to 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date in First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Conroy. A memorial fund has been established.

Left to cherish M.J.’s memory, is his wife Jennifer; his father Donald Martinson; six children, Dalton Martinson, of Williamsburg, Aundrea Martinson, of Mankato, MN, Lacey Ivy, of Grinnell, Owen Kempf, of Williamsburg, Clay Kempf (Emma Kaisand), of Cedar Falls and Shelby Kempf (Michael Gyles), of Marengo; three grandchildren, Emily Giudice, Weston and Noah Kenning; and two brothers, Dave Martinson, of West Liberty and Dan Martinson of Williamsburg.

He was preceded in death by his mother Karen in 2007, a sister Denise Martinson in 2022, and a son T.J. Martinson in infancy.

Martin Jon Martinson was born November 19, 1975, in Marengo, the son of Donald and Karen (Wilson) Martinson. He attended the Lutheran Interparish School, and the Williamsburg and Marengo public schools. M.J. was employed at various places throughout his life, with the most recent at Williamsburg Manufacturing as a die setter. M.J. was united in marriage to Jennifer Kruse on March 28, 2020 in Williamsburg. He fought a long and painful battle with cancer, and is now at peace.

M.J. enjoyed collecting toy tractors, farm equipment and restoring pedal tractors. He shared this hobby with his dad Don, and together they started Martinson Collectors. He loved to drive around in his 1994 and 2005 Chevy Silverado trucks, sit in his shop and drink a few beers and listen to music. M.J. never knew a stranger and made memories that will continue on forever within all those he met, knew and loved. He was always willing to help others and was very mechanically inclined. M.J. could quote music lyrics and make references to movies, tying it altogether into something humorous. He also loved his dogs, Millie, Ava, Diesel and Fred, but most of all, M.J. loved his family. He will be greatly missed.
