David I. Burgy, age 77, of South Amana, passed away at his home on December 28, 2022. Memorial service: 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 2, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy with Rev. Gary Sears officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M., Monday, January 2, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

David is survived by his wife Barb Burgy, of South Amana, his children Kyle Burgy of Milwaukee, WI., and Kirsten (Aaron) Floyd of Jackson, MO., his stepchildren Doug (Jennifer) Misbach of Omaha, NE., Jody (Tami) Fiser of Vinton, and Jessie Fiser of Cedar Rapids; his granddaughter Laikyn Floyd; and four step grandchildren Charlie and Jack Misbach, and Kiley and Mackenzie Fiser. Also surviving David are his brothers Larry Burgy of Marengo and Jeff Burgy of Amana.

David is preceded in death by his parents.

David Irvin Burgy was born June 25, 1945, the son of Irvin and Marie Marz Burgy. He graduated from Williamsburg high school with the class of 1963. Following high school, he attended the University of Iowa for three years. David was united in marriage to Glenda Chaloupka, and the couple later divorced. He then married Barb Brockshus on April 4, 2014, on the family farm.

Along with farming, David worked at Amana Refrigeration and Kinze Manufacturing. David spent his younger days riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and enjoyed going to the Oshkosh air show with his family and visiting his son and daughter at their homes in Wisconsin and Missouri. He was an Iowa fan and watched Iowa Hawkeye football, basketball, and wrestling. David enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and going out to dinner. He especially loved his drives with Barb to the Mississippi River during the fall to see the changing of the leaves.
