Howard L. McClenathan, age 94, of Brooklyn, passed away Friday, November 3, 2022 at Brooklyn Community Estate, Brooklyn. Funeral service: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, with Pastor Dan Gay officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m., until service time at 1:00 p.m., at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Interment will be in the Victor Cemetery, Victor.

Howard Levi McClenathan was born July 20, 1928 to Lee and Myrtle Shine McClenathan, in Victor, Iowa. He was the oldest of four children. He spent his days on the farm helping his father and younger brother with fieldwork and chores.

Howard entered the U.S. Army in February 1951 and served in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the farm in Brooklyn where he farmed until entering Brooklyn Community Estate Nursing Home in 2019. Howard made the comment he liked “everything” about farming and the livestock.

He always enjoyed his nieces and nephews; they were important to him. He is survived by his brother, Lester McClenathan and his sister and brother-in-law Eva and Larry Brannian; nephews, Tim, Terry (Karen) and Roger McClenathan; nieces, Debbie (Dan) Gay, Sherry (Shawn) Seymour, Tonda (Dave) Cates, Lori (Mike) Vogel, Lisa (Gary) Spooner, Susan (John) Battle and Cathy (Mark) Peters; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Francis Paul, and nephews Tom Paul and Gary McClenathan.
