Thomas L. Davidson, age 82, of Marengo, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Brooklyn Community Estate, Brooklyn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo, with Father David Wilkening officiating. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deb; a brother Robert (Vicki) Davidson, four nieces, Jennifer (Chad) Knudtson, Jessica (Steve) Cerveny, Jordan (Tyler) Kasper and Jaylin Van Lancker; seven grand nieces and nephews, Dylan (Abby) Knudtson, Hanna Knudtson, Lily Knudtson, Ali (Austin) Tucker, Blake Kasper, Henrey Kasper and Izzy Kasper; two great-grand nieces and nephews, Josie Tucker and Ryker Tucker; a special cousin Marylou (Jack) Tripolino; very special friends Tim and Anita Reihmann, Tyler, Katie, Chase and their children; Gary and Linda Schultz, Marilyn Rodgers, Garth Grafft and Verabeth, Denise and David Bricker; and Jenny, his canine companion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, a special aunt, Frances Colson, a brother-in-law Ed Van Lancker, Al and Glenna Christoffersen, Honora (Nana) Walsh, many cousins and friends and Misty, his other canine companion.

Thomas Linn Davidson was born June 23, 1940, the son of Linn and Anna (Hogan) Davidson. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1959. Tom continued his education at DeVry Technical Institute, receiving his degree in electronics. Following graduation, Tom worked at Martinson TV, in Marengo, Roth Appliances, in Belle Plaine and Rockwell Collins in Anamosa. He opened Tom’s TV in 1964 in the Doose Hotel, in Marengo, until moving his business to the southeast corner of the Marengo Square until 1993. After closing his business, he continued to work at Ace Electronics in Cedar Rapids and Williamsburg, and lastly at Big G grocery store from 1994 until his retirement in 2015. He was united in marriage to Debra Kay Van Lancker on September 14, 1991 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo.

Tom was a member of the Television Service Association of Iowa, serving as president and secretary for many years. He was also a member of Cratos, Cedar Rapids Organ Society, the Knights of Columbus, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Marengo Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed woodworking, going to auctions, going to the Iowa State Fair every year and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He loved attending Iowa Hawkeye sports and was a season ticket holder to many of the athletic events.
