Dawn Lynn Schlesselman, age 58 of Ladora, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at her home. Celebration of Life Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 30, 2022, at St. James Lutheran Church, Victor with Pastor Michael Kolesar officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M., Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be directed to the Dawn Schlesselman Memorial Fund.

Dawn is survived by her husband Glen; four children, Ellie (Charles) Hawkins of Ladora, Evan (Courtney) Schlesselman of Victor, Whitney (Zack) Groomes of Nevada, and Nikki (Andrew) Van Otegham of Victor; and thirteen grandchildren, Raelene, Cash and Memphis Hawkins of Ladora, Brayden, Payton, and Nolan Schlesselman of Victor, Zoey, Izabelle, Barrett and Loretta Groomes of Nevada, and Kodie Holcomb, Kolt and Henry Van Otegham of Victor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son Nicholas in infancy.

Dawn Gunzenhauser was born April 21, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of David and Irene Neumann Gunzenhauser. She received her education in the Amana schools graduating from Amana High School in 1982. She and Glen Schlessleman were married June 12, 1982, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Besides her role as wife and mother, Dawn worked alongside her husband as a farrowing manager. She loved gardening and her flowers and was known to have “2 green thumbs”. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, including Diamond Art “Dippin Dots”, painting, puzzles and ceramics. She made numerous ceramic Christmas trees for her family members. Dawn liked cruising, and trips to Laughlin. She especially loved her grandchildren, and her life was filled with their events and activities.
