Daniel Lee Straw, 56, passed away on May 21, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel.

Dan was born on April 16, 1959 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Gordon Straw and Dorothy (Hartl) Felling. In 1969, Dorothy married Nyle Felling and the family moved to Marengo. Dan graduated from Iowa Valley High in 1977. Dan spent time working and traveling in various parts of the country. In 1992 he met Suzette Trent in Mobile, Alabama. They were married in 1995 in North Carolina. In 1999, in Jackson, Mississippi, their oldest son, Sam was born. In 2000, Dan and Suze moved to Des Moines where they made their home. Then in 2001, their youngest son, Danny was born.

In 2006, Dan and Suze opened Better Basement Technologies and together grew the company to the successful company that it is today. Dan enjoyed his work, watching sports, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.

Dan is survived by his wife, Suze; sons, Sam and Danny; mother, Dorothy Felling; brother, Reo (Yvonne) Straw; sister-in-law, Kiki (Scotty) Lee and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Danita Straw, his step father, Nyle Felling and his father, Gordon Straw.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
