LeRoy Everett Jackson, 81, of Mechanicsville, IA, joined his dancing partner and spouse, Joyce, when he entered eternity on Sunday, August 28, 2022, while under the care of Avalon Hospice at Prairie Hills Assisted Living Center in Tipton.

A Visitation will be held at the Matthews Building on the Cedar County Fairgrounds in Tipton, IA, on Sunday, September 4th, 2022, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow to honor LeRoy’s gift for socializing. Food and drink will be provided from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and all are invited to come and share their favorite LeRoy stories.

On Monday, September 5, 2022, at 10:30 am, LeRoy will be laid to rest at the Stanwood Cemetery with military honors.

Cards and memorials may be mailed c/o Brian Jackson, 420 Maple Lane, North English, Iowa 52316. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to Avalon Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

LeRoy, son of Buell and Helen (Lehrman) Jackson, was born on Tuesday, January 7, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. LeRoy graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1959 and attended Iowa State University.

On September 9, 1963, LeRoy joined the US Army National Guard, where he served until his honorable discharge on September 8, 1969.

On July 17, 1964, he was united in marriage to Joyce Clark at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stanwood, IA. As the years passed, they grew their family with three boys and a girl.

LeRoy’s passion was raising Hereford cattle and working on the family farm that originated in 1890. He worked alongside his parents, brothers, children, and grandchildren for many years,

LeRoy’s life was one of service to those he loved and his passion for working with cattle. He served in many roles throughout his life; he was most proud of his work as a 4-H Leader, County Fair Judge, Cedar County Cattlemen’s Association Member, Iowa Hereford Association Member, and Junior Advisor and Kirkwood Beef Advisory Board. He was recently inducted into the Iowa Hereford Hall of Fame in 2019 because of his impact on the Hereford breed in Iowa.

LeRoy is survived by his children, Brian (Barbara) Jackson of North English, Iowa, Brad (Kelly) Jackson of Tipton, Iowa, Craig (Kerry) Jackson of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Nicole (Matt) Ehler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and eight grandchildren: Luke, Nathan & Jacob Jackson, Chase Jackson & Paige Carr, and Kelcee, Sawyer & Spencer Amling.
He is also survived by brothers: Gary (Marilyn) Jackson, Ron (Debbie) Jackson, Arlen Jackson, and Loren (Lesa) Jackson, as well as brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Chuck Johnson and Jim & Mary Clark and 13 nieces and nephews.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his spouse Joyce (Clark) Jackson; his parents, Buell and Helen Jackson; Sister-in-law, Betty Johnson; and in-laws, Robert and Evelyn Clark.
