Mary Lou Harris was born April 25, 1932 at home near North English, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Quincy & Winona (Bennett) Lockridge. She graduated from North English High School in 1950. On November 10, 1950, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Jerry Dean Harris at the North English Christian Church. She was a life-long farm wife on the family farm. Mary Lou was a member of the North English Christian church, where she served on the board, taught Sunday School and was a member of the CWF. She was a member of the Oakridge Community Club and a former 4H Leader. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting buttons, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Lawrence Welk. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Mary Lou died on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 90 years.

She is survived by her children Kathy Misel of Woodbury, MN, Terry (Mary Kay) Harris of Lisbon and Tony (Pat) Harris of North English; nine grandchildren Nickie (Dennis) Vitali, Brad (Laura) Vetter, Toni (Chad) Wiesenhofer, Scott (Kelly Hoyos) Vetter, Adam (Luci) Harris, Holli (Ryan) Jordan, Quincy (Katie) Harris, Gabe (Jourdan) Harris and April (Justus) Young; 14 great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law Mary Ann Fuller and Carma Septer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry; daughter Kristi Harris; son-in-law Robert Misel; brother William Lockridge and sister Elizabeth Lockridge.

Celebration Of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to North English Christian Church, North English Community Center, North English Fire Department or the North English QRS.
