David J. Hansen, age 66, of Marengo, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2022 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Rev. Diane Vorhies officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Interment will be in the Marengo Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Dave is survived by his wife Debra Hansen, of Marengo; two children, Deann (Jerry) Smith, of Marengo and John Hansen (Renee Schulte), of Marengo; a step-daughter Amy Imhoff (Steve Goff), of Iowa City; five grand children, Austin Hansen, Hunter Smith, Jovi Smith (Caitlin Spurlin), Alexis Hansen and RayLynn Hansen; four great-grandchildren, Jozlynn Hansen, KO Hansen, Lane Smith and Laylah Spurlin; a brother Drue (Linda) Hansen; and his faithful canine companions, Theo “Squirrel”, Pepper and Daisy.

David was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eunice Hansen Reed, a brother Dean Hansen and his step-father Louis Reed.

David John Hansen was born June 1, 1956 in Marengo, the son of John Hansen and Eunice (Ealy) Hansen. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1974 and continued his education at Bell and Howell DeVry Institute of Technology, in Kansas City, MO. Dave married Lynn Hamilton on January 25, 1974 and had two children, Deann and John. The couple later divorced. He married Debra Dains on September 15, 2012 and gained a step-daughter Amy.

Dave worked a variety of jobs in his life time, from being an electrician to driving trucks until his retirement in 2015. He worked at FMC, in Cedar Rapids, changed tower light bulbs, operated a Texaco gas station in Oxford, drove milk trucks to semi trucks, and lastly driving dump trucks for B.A.D. Agriculture and Construction. Dave also owned and operated Hansen Electric. There was never a dull moment with Dave. He had never met a stranger, as everyone was always his buddy.

He enjoyed a good party with friends and loved to collect cuckoo and grandfather clocks, off setting them to sound at different times. Dave enjoyed shopping newspaper ads and online, buying various Knick Knacks and different items, decorating his room he enjoyed to sit in while watching CNN and Fox news. He loved animals and watching a thunderstorm while listening to the rain. Most of all, Dave was a loving father and loved spending time with his family.
