Lois Cadden, 90, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Philip Ryan officiating. Pianist will be Marilyn Kriegel and vocalist will be Rhonda Minner. Casket Bearers will be David Cadden, Matthew Cadden, Allison Cadden, Nicole Brodersen, Ryan Brodersen, Doug Wickham, Steve Johnston and Kenny Cadden. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home beginning 12 noon on Friday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

A reception will be held on Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell following the service at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to St. Francis Manor in Grinnell and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Lois was born on February 15, 1926, near Prairie City, Iowa to Roy and Marjorie Harris French. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Prairie City High School. Following her education, she worked for 19 years in the accounting department of the Maytag Company in Newton.

On June 14, 1958, she was united in marriage to Donald Cadden in Colfax, Iowa. The couple lived briefly in Newton and later lived in Grinnell. She was a mother of two children and a homemaker.

Lois enjoyed cooking, reading, family gatherings, shopping and attending garage sales.

Survivors include her husband, Don Cadden of Grinnell; two children, Michael (Connie) Cadden of Eden Prairie, MN and Lisa (John) Brodersen of Ankeny, IA; five grandchildren, David, Matthew and Allison Cadden and Nicole and Ryan Brodersen; and two sisters, Laura Wickham of Newton, IA and Louise (Byron) Johnston of Mitchellville, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Daniel Cadden; and one brother, Robert French.
