George W McCallister Jr. of Williamsburg, Iowa, passed away on June 15, 2022, at the age of 70, in Fort Worth, Texas.

George was born on February 28, 1952 in Marengo, IA to George and Kathryn (Hadenfeldt) McCallister. George grew up on the farm, owned the Sundown, and then moved to Austin, TX where he worked for several years as a manager at IBM. He moved back and forth from Texas to Iowa, loving the people and landscape of both places, and working in a variety of different vocations. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. At the end of his life, George enjoyed reading books to his granddaughters and playing cards with his neighbors.

George is survived by his children, Kati (Andy) Friederichs of Fort Worth, TX and Dustin McCallister of Georgetown, TX. He leaves behind three granddaughters, Sophia, Penny Mae, and Eloise Friederichs of Fort Worth; a sister, Angie McCallister of Williamsburg; a brother, Dan (Anne) McCallister of Williamsburg, and several nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Nathan Wiebold. There will be a private service at a later date.

Memorial donations in George’s memory can be made to St. Gabriel’s Hospice, Fort Worth, TX.
