Christopher Lee Mason, from the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area, left this life to go to a better place on April 1, 2022. He is at peace now.

Chris, also known as 40 oz. Prophet to many in the music and art world, was born Sept. 7, 1976, in Iowa City, Iowa. He lived most of his life in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area. Chris attended Metro High School in Cedar Rapids, and then received an associate of arts degree from Kirkwood Community College in Iowa City.

Chris enjoyed art activities over the years. He had many jobs completing building size murals and other art projects. He was very talented when it came to art, mainly graffiti style and portraits. Chris worked as an apprentice tattoo artist in several shops in the surrounding areas. He was also known for his DJ skills and performed at many festivals and events over the years. He also loved to skateboard and cook fabulous meals.

Chris is survived by his mother, Sue Prymek of Oxford, Iowa; brother, Dakota Prymek, also of Oxford, Iowa; son, Blaze Mason of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter, Kaitlyn Pundt of Homestead, Iowa; and son, Tristan Lee Hatfield of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Earl and Helen Mason of Mason City, Iowa; and Uncle Greg Mason of Garrison.

Family members preceding him in death were his father, Roderick Mason; maternal grandparents, Ward and Ruth Bartusch; stepfather, Smoe Prymek; aunt, Sandra Bartusch; and uncle, Stuart Bartusch.

The body will be cremated. There will be no public viewing or services. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of the care for Chris.

Memorials can be donated to the Shelter House of Iowa City or any homeless shelter or drug treatment agency for those in need. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.broshchapel.com.
