Lynn Kromminga, 84, of Deep River, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A private family graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 28, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery south of Victor with Pastor Stuart Rethwisch officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Deep River American Legion.

Visitation with the family present will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 27th, at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor.

Memorials may be designated to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to the Deep River American Legion, and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, IA 52347. Memories and condolences may be shared with his family online at www.smithfh.com.

Lynn Richard Kromminga was born on August 18, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was raised near Deep River, Iowa, Lawrence, Kansas, and San Antonio, Texas, respectively. He graduated from the University of Texas and then served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from the University of Maryland Law School and went on to practice law most of his life. He later returned home to his roots on the family farm, now recognized as a Century Farm, near Deep River. In his retirement years, he was a pilot for Andretti Racing and also enjoyed sports car racing.

Lynn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church near Victor and the Deep River American Legion. He will be remembered for being adventurous, for being proud of his family’s farm legacy, for his love of racing, and for being humble and kind.

Lynn is survived by his daughter, April (Steven) Spoerl of Spring Hill, Tennessee and their children, Karl, Wade and Evan; and his son, Bruce (Kristen) Kromminga of Millersville, Maryland and their children, Owen, and Seth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Phyllis and Louis Ude Kromminga.
