Marilyn Frasher, 85, formerly of Martelle, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Her request was to be cremated and placed by her husband. Committal services will be held in private at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa at a later date. Please visit www.hoettschonline.com and share your memories, thoughts, stories and condolences with the Frasher family.

Marilyn Mae Mott was born May 21, 1936, in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Alice (Ralston) Mott. She attended schools in Wyoming and graduated from Wyoming High School in 1954. She was awarded a full scholarship to study music at the University of Iowa. However, after attending one day she realized that it was not what she wanted to do and returned home.

She married Gene Frasher on Nov. 20, 1954, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. He died in 2007. The couple made their home in Martelle, and were members of the church. She was employed as a supervisor at Rockwell Collins and retired after 35 years of service.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed working puzzles, gardening, flowers, watching birds, board games, being outdoors and working in ceramics, often making and selling them at craft shows. Above all these she was deeply devoted to her family and loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by her children, Mark (Sue), Mapleton, Minn., Marcia (Kevin) Smejkal, Cedar Rapids, Michael (Kaleen), Leander, Texas, Melinda Feldman, Martelle, Martin (Donna), Williamsburg, and Melissa Butler, Anamosa; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Derik Joseph; and her siblings, Don, John, Jim, Lyle, Dorothy and Lucille.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Northbrook Manor, Hospice of Mercy and Mercy Medical Center for the wonderful loving care Marilyn received.
