Mary Ellen Magdalena Stoltzfus was born July 10, 1933. The daughter of John S and Ada Marie (Herschy) Wagler. She graduated from Wayland High School. Mary Ellen worked at Me Too Grocery Store for 8 years, Holden's Seed in Williamsburg for 20 years. On October 26, 1952 Mary Ellen was united in marriage to Einer Stoltzfus at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland. They would have celebrated their 70th Anniversary this October. She lived in the Trenton community, the Wayland community for 12 years, the Williamsburg community for 26 years, until moving to Kalona in 1992. She was a member of West Union Mennonite Church. Mary Ellen enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, wintering in Florida, and spending time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary Ellen passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at her home in Kalona at the age of 88.

Mary Ellen is survived by; 4 children, Barbara (Joe) Adams of Andrews, IN, Douglas (Pam) Stoltzfus of Parnell, Debra (Joe) Swartzentruber of Kalona and Kathy Finnegan of Kalona; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 sisters; Myndell Boshart of Mt. Pleasant, Dorothy Wenger of Wayland, Ardith Eigsti of Denver CO. and Kay Schweitzer of Kalona. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers Elmer and Earles Wagler, 4 sisters; Esther Boshart, Ruth Miller, Lois Short and Verla Conrad.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the many wonderful acts of love and kindness shown in the last couple weeks. Your support will be remembered and cherished always.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Visitation will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona.
