Joyce Elaine Kroul passed away peacefully after a long struggle with dementia on Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids at the age of 86.

Joyce was born August 26, 1935 in Williamsburg, Iowa. The daughter of Edwin and Minnie (Stohlmann) Huedepohl. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1953. Joyce met Lloyd Kroul while working at Amana Refrigeration and they were united in marriage on August 27, 1955 in Williamsburg.

The couple resided and raised their family in Amana. Joyce worked as a waitress for over 40 years at the Ronneburg Restaurant. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra (Kevin) Becker of Marion and Denise (Ron) Harriman of Robins; four grandchildren, Kyle (Kristin) Becker, Katie (Kyle) Nelson, Geneva (Logan) Haines and Lydia (Chris) Gulker; 12 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Freese of Cedar Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd, brother, Harold Huedepohl and two sisters, Carolyn Crumbaugh and Ruth Fernandez.

A private family Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. A memorial fund has been established for St. John Lutheran Church or the Meth-Wick Endowment Fund. Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg is caring for arrangements and services.
