Wayne Frederick Schwarting of Marengo, died on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo, at the age of 84 years.

Celebration of Life Service was held 3:00 PM Tuesday December 28, 2021 at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Pastor Luke Caster officiated. Burial will be at a later date in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation was 1:00 - 3:00 PM Tuesday December 28, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a general memorial fund has been established. Wayne Frederick Schwarting was born December 14, 1937 near Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Alfred Henry and Viola Meta Louise (Timm) Schwarting. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1956, and went on to serve in the US Army. Wayne was united in marriage to Linda Rae Bemiss on June 6, 1965 at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union, Iowa.

He farmed for many years and worked as a carpenter for Swartzendruber Lumber in Amana for over 30 years. Wayne and Linda lived in South Amana, Conroy, Williamsburg and North English, before moving to Marengo in 2015. Wayne was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg.

Wayne adored his grandchildren and always tried to be a big part of their lives with his humor and stories. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs & Royals and the Williamsburg Red Sox.

He is survived by his wife Linda of Marengo; three children Lori (Mark) Miller of Williamsburg, Kari (Doug) Spence of Marengo and Matthew (Melissa) Schwarting of Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren: Lauren (Jonathan) Collier, Lexie Miller, Dylan Spence, Sidney Spence, Brendan Schwarting and Jenna Schwarting. He was preceded by his parents and a sister Shirley (Kevin) Lane.
