Delores Koenighain, 83, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Visitation will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 9-10 a.m. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Lone Tree, followed by a funeral service at 10 am. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the U of I Children’s Hospital. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at https://www.sandhfuneralservice.com

Delores was born on June 19, 1938 to Tony and Eulalia (Duwa) Morgan, the eldest of six children. Delores was a 1956 graduate of West Liberty High School. On October 3, 1959, she was united in marriage to Gene Koenighain of Parnell.

She studied at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1959. Throughout her nursing career she worked as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital, and later at Beverly Manor (now Briarwood Manor) nursing home. Delores and Gene raised five children and enjoyed camping, vacationing, attending music festivals, and spending time with family.

Delores will be deeply missed by her children, Linda (David) Brennan of Swisher; Gary (Karmen) Koenighain of Farmington, Utah; Laurie (Paul) Barthol of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; Greg (Melanie) Koenighain of Hiawatha; and Tracy (Trent) DeKoter of Tiffin; grandchildren, Rachel Brennan, Jonathan Koenighain, Jill (Joe) Ambrosi, Brenden (Emilie) Koenighain, Megan Barthol, Kaylee Koenighain, Erin Barthol, Jordan DeKoter, Paulie Barthol, Logan DeKoter and Caden DeKoter; siblings, Sue (Denny) Denton; Wayne (Susan) Morgan, Julie (Dean) Miller and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Koenighain, who passed earlier this year, her parents, sister Rosemary (Richard) Gerot, and brother Gerald (Joan) Morgan.
