Violet Ruby Anderson, 87, of Marengo, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Private family graveside services will be held. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed Essence of Life Hospice, Amana.

Violet is survived by four children, Randy (Jewel) Anderson, of Warrensburg, Mo., Nora "Susie" (Dennis) Miller, of Belle Plaine, Marvin L. (Erika) Anderson, of Ely, and Christine (Paul) Garringer, of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, Ben Anderson, Jayson Stull (Michelle Fuller), Ashley (Brandon) Dietrich, Trenton (Ellie) Garringer, Anna (Michael) McMillian, Ryan Anderson, Nickolas Anderson and Baylee Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Kara, Mason and Lucas Dietrich and Cash Anderson; four stepgrandchildren, Jodi Hukriede, Justin Wiley, Jacob (Elise) Wiley and Hannah Wilson; and a special niece, Sally Frondle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, in March 2021; a granddaughter, Jessica Anderson; her parents; and her siblings, Jerry, Bob, Don and June Starkweather, Velma Birch, Rose Frondle and Lovell Slaymaker.

Violet Starkweather was born April 20, 1934, in Amana, the daughter of Le Roy and Nora (Stanton) Starkweather. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1952. Violet was united in marriage to Marvin Anderson on Oct. 25, 1952.

She was a long time resident of Marengo. Violet worked at Rose Haven Nursing Home in the laundry department and at the Sudbury Motel and the Doose Hotel as a housekeeper. She enjoyed traveling to see and spend with her family, spending time with her cats, riding her bicycle, gardening, canning and wearing her jewelry. Violet loved participating in the activities at the nursing home.
