Beverly Jean Montross, age 88, of Millersburg, passed away peacefully in her home on October 10, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

Beverly was born on August 22, 1933 in Keokuk County, the daughter of Walter (Ellis) and Mabel (Hart) Morrison. While a student at Keswick High School she took pride in being a member of the state runner-up basketball team. Beverly graduated in 1950 and then earned her teaching certificate. Later, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.

Beverly was united in marriage to Charles (Pete) Montross on June 6, 1952. They were blessed with four children. They lived and farmed in the Millersburg area until they moved to their present home in Millersburg. Bev taught in a Country School House (North of Keswick) for two years. She raised her family before returning to teach lower elementary classes in Deep River Millersburg School District.

Beverly was actively involved in the Millersburg United Methodist Church and her community. She was a member of numerous committees and groups, including Delta Kappa Gamma. In 2010, Beverly was honored with the Outstanding Senior Volunteer of Iowa County Award. She enjoyed baking, cooking and supporting her family, and all of their activities. She will always be remembered as a kind, caring, and witty person.

She is survived by her children Janet of Millersburg, Larry (Donna) of Winfield, Steve (Natalie) of Winterset and Bill (Jeannie) of Millersburg, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, a brother Max Morrison, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers: Kenneth and Lloyd, daughter-in-law Susan and great-granddaughter Zoey.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Millersburg United Methodist Church in Millersburg. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in North English.
