Lila Belle McCallister was born April 17, 1932 near Williamsburg, Iowa. The daughter of Leo and Viola (Waggoner) Johnson. She attended rural school in Keswick and Holbrook communities and Parnell Consolidated. Lila was united in marriage to Daryle Everett McCallister on October 4, 1947 in North English.

Lila had worked a number of jobs before working for Amana Refrigeration for 25 ½ years. She joined the Pilot Grove Church in the late 40's and in 1958 she transferred her membership to the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, singing in choir, making Merry Monkeys for the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics and calling bingo.

Lila passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 89.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Daryle; six daughters, Janice (Mike) Sheets of Muscatine, Beverly (Larry) Lehrkamp, of Willis, Texas, Barbara (Barry) Olson of Conroy, Marvel Axmear of North English, Delores (Larry) Shaull of Williamsburg and Dianne (Bruce) Haught of Iowa City; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Donna McCallister of Marengo, Eva Riley of Muscatine and Betty Estabrook of Grandview and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step father Lloyd Bradshaw, a son Daryle John McCallister, grandson Travis Haught, great granddaughter Alishia Paul, son-in-law Steve Axmear, a brother Leo (Jack) Johnson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at Pilot Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
