Mary "Pauline" Kloos, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at St. Luke's Hospice on Sept. 4, 2021. Funeral Mass: Wednesday, Sept. 8, 10:30 a.m., St. Pius X Church, with Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Visitation: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at St. Pius. The luncheon will be immediately following the services, with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery to take place after the luncheon.

Pauline was born Feb. 16, 1933, in Grinnell, Iowa, and was adopted by Evaleen and Henry DeMeulenaere of Victor, Iowa. Following high school, she attended Marycrest College. Pauline married the love of her life, Don Kloos, on June 1, 1957, at St. Matthew's Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Pauline was the matriarch of the family, focusing on her three children while working parttime at Cedar Memorial, then retiring from State Farm Insurance. Pauline was a charter member of St. Pius Church. She was a devout Catholic and was very involved in numerous church activities. Pauline was a very kind, caring, loving person who enjoyed a large circle of friends playing cards, water aerobics and Thursday coffee with the girls. Her greatest joy was spending time spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family holidays will never be the same without our beloved host.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Don, of 62 years; her parents; and her brother, Joe DeMeulenaere.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Sue) Kloos of Iowa City, Mike (Kerry) Kloos of Cedar Falls and Kaye Moeller of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Marshal Kloos, Margo (Tyler) Wolgast, Marcus (Sasha) Kloos, Katy (Jake) Farley, Andy Kloos, Holly Kloos, Henry (Heather) Moeller and Oliver Moeller; and great-grandchildren, Madeline, Alec and Eleanor.

For those who wish to remember Pauline with a gift, a memorial has been established. Donations will be made to her favorite charities. Online condolences may be left at www.cedarmemorial.com under obituaries.
