Frances Louise “Toot” Ritchie, age 97, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Marengo Cemetery, Marengo, Iowa with Pastor Gary VanHeukelom officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Frances is survived by two sons, David Ritchie, of Cedar Rapids, and Gary (Nancy) Ritchie, of South English; nine grandchildren, Justine (Jerry) Radunzel, of Amana, Heidi Lossman, of Idaho, Curt (Kim) Ritchie, of Williamsburg, Kris (Darin) Jones, of Avoca, Honee (Chris) Mesa, of Idaho, Tonya (Barry) Kiddy, of Tennessee, Jeff Ritchie, of Marengo, Shaun Ritchie (Kristin Eschweiler), of Ely, and Marshall (Mandy) Ritchie, of Lorimor; 25 great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law Pat Ritchie of Marengo.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Jeanette (Minnaert) Roggentien; her husband Charles; two sons, James and Ronald Ritchie; and five brothers, Gerald, Harold (Fat), Raymond, Duane (Whitey) and Dick Roggentien.

Frances was born June 3, 1924, in Millersburg, the daughter of John and Jeanette (Minnaert) Roggentien. She received her education in the Millersburg County School, Victor Elementary and Iowa Valley High School. Frances was united in marriage to Charles Ritchie on November 15, 1942.

She was a housewife and mother. Frances loved spending time with family and friends. She especially loved being a mother and a grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, playing cards and board games and watching Iowa Hawkeye sports. Frances was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she will be missed dearly.
