Dixie Wentland, 80, of Hartwick, died on Monday, July 12, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Victor. A reception will follow at St. Bridget Catholic Church.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm on Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor and her family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A rosary will be held at 3:30 pm at the Smith Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be designated to University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, Iowa 52347. Memories and condolences may be shared with Dixie’s family online at www.smithfh.com.

Dixie Lee Timm was born on April 30, 1941, on the family farm near Guernsey, Iowa to Arthur and Margaret (Grier) Timm. She was raised near Guernsey, and she graduated from HLV High School in Victor with the class of 1959. Following her education, Dixie worked at Amana Refrigeration in Amana, Iowa.

Dixie was united in marriage to Charles Michael Wentland on September 14, 1963, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor. The couple was blessed with four children: Carla, Carma, Cindy, and Michael. They farmed near Hartwick, and they owned and operated the Stop-N-Sip Tap in Victor. Dixie later worked at Victor Plastics from 1991 – 2007. They were longtime members of St. Bridget Catholic Church and Dixie served for many years on the Altar and Rosary Society at the church. In retirement, Mike and Dixie enjoyed seeing the world by taking many cruises exploring South America, Australia, Alaska and many more.

Dixie was a kind soul who enjoyed taking care of her flower garden and many birdfeeders. She was a talented crafter and many family members and friends enjoyed receiving gifts of her embroidered towels and hand painted cards. She will be remembered for being a hard worker, for her abiding faith in the Lord, and for the strong love of her family.

Dixie is survived by three daughters, Carla (Joel) Kelling of Grinnell, Carma (Reynold Brown) Artzer of Victor, and Cindy (Waylon Ary) DeBrower of Victor; son, Michael Wentland of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren, Justin Kelling, Tanner, Randi, Reed and Cheyan DeBrower, Jade Cooling, and Amelia and Ruby Wentland; and her siblings, Colene Kent of Holiday Lake, Margaret (Royce) York of Montour, and Daniel Timm of Victor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Margaret (Grier) Timm; husband, Charles “Mike” Wentland; granddaughter, Nicole Kelling; son-in-law, Greg DeBrower; brother, Gary Timm; and sister, Marlene Mathes.
