Mardene Jane Kimm, age 81, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marengo and Blairstown, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Pastor Ryan Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

Mardene is survived by a son Shawn (Lisa) Thomas, of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Pastor Ryan (Amanda) Cosgrove, of Burlington, Cody Thomas, of Cedar Rapids and Heather (Zach) Mineck, of Cedar Rapids; three great grandchildren, Brantley, Barrett and Miles; three step-children Cindy (Jim) Stoddard, of Watkins, Brian “Opie” (Cindy) Kimm, of Blairstown and Cheryl (Jeff) Housman, of Dewitt; a step daughter-in-law Jeanette Kimm, of Belle Plaine; several step grandchildren and step, great-grandchildren; two sisters Elaine (Brian) Slaymaker, of Marengo and Brenda (Brian) Brenneman, of Blairstown; and a sister-in-law Jeanie Collingwood, of Williamsburg.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Douglas, a daughter Lori, a brother Gene, a sister Arlene, in infancy and a step son Craig.

Mardene Collingwood was born December 5, 1939 in Des Moines. She is the daughter of Harold and Erna (Walter) Collingwood. Mardene grew up in Marengo and graduated in 1958 from Marengo High School.mShe attended the National School of Aeronatics, in Kansas City, MO. and worked for various airlines in Kansas City and Madison, WI.

In 1960, she married Jerry Thomas. They later divorced. She married Douglas Kimm in 1971. They made their home in Blairstown.

She was best known for her employment at the Marengo Post Office for 28 years. Mardene loved Elvis and enjoyed going gaming. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
