Kathy M. Hartz, age 71, of Marengo, passed away Friday May 28, 2021, at Compass Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 3, 2021, at First Lutheran Church, rural Conroy, with Rev. Don Dovre officiating. A private inurnment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Conroy. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

Kathy Marie Dietze was born July 2, 1949, in Pilot Township, the daughter of Paul and Gladys Lutz Dietze. She attended HLV High School graduating with the class of 1967. Kathy was united in marriage to Maurice Hartz Jr. on May 25, 1968, at the Ladora Methodist Church.

She worked as a shipping clerk for American Color Graphics in Marengo until her retirement in 2012. Kathy was a member of First Lutheran Church, rural Conroy and the Lions Club. She enjoyed traveling, especially spending time on the beach with her sisters. Kathy loved doing puzzles, gardening and was very creative, enjoying many crafts. She never missed attending her grandchildren’s events.

Kathy is survived by her husband Maurice of Marengo; her children, Eric (Jennifer) Hartz of Grinnell, Ryan (Diandra) Hartz of Olathe, KS., and Vincent Hartz of Marengo; grandchildren, Hannah Hartz of Chicago, IL., Emma Hartz of Des Moines, Collin Hartz of Grinnell, Morgan Hartz of Olathe, KS., and Ryan Hartz Jr. of Olathe, KS. Also surviving Kathy are her siblings, Judy (Jerry) Damerval of Marengo, Rick (Katy) Dietze of Marengo, Becky (Dean) Schmuecker of Marengo, Reggie (Linda) Dietze of Victor; a sister-in-law Linda Dietze; and a brother-in-law Mike McCammant.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Red Dietze, a sister, Brenda McCammant; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Meyer.
