Russell John Wiebold, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away May 23, 2021. A public visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial following at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Russell was born March 10, 1931, to Gilbert and Marie (Heitman) Wiebold in Williamsburg. He married Lois Helberg. After Lois passed, he married Ethel Thomas. He worked tirelessly at Amana, whether as a labor steward or a manufacturing superintendent. After 41 years of service at Amana, Russell retired in 1992.

He also worked hard at home, whether it was building garages and decks, growing flowers or spraying the hose at a variety of cats. He was a devout member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Most important to him were his family and faith. He was a big brother to five other brothers and enjoyed helping and spending time with all of them.

In his early years, he enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with his family as well as spending time in the garden with his wife and children. In addition, backyard barbeques were enjoyed by family and friends. During his last 10 years at Cedar Crest, he lived with 30 of his best friends enjoying meals together, playing cards, having conversations and cocktails and sharing Bible studies on Monday evenings.

Russell is survived by his children, Dr. Laurie Wiebold of Long Beach, Calif., and Ross (Julie) Wiebold of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jayme Wiebold of Des Moines and Jacey of Cedar Rapids: along with his brother, Don Wiebold of Toledo, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Lois and Ethel; his parents; and his siblings, Lloyd, Dale, Roy and Allyn Wiebold.

A special thanks to the St. Luke's Respiratory Care Unit and the MICU department. Also, a shoutout to everyone at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids and his special nurse, Julie. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Julie Wiebold for your knowledge and constant concern for dad. To all hospital workers, care facility workers, you are true warriors. God bless all of you.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or show an act of kindness or generosity in Russell's honor.

Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.cedarmemorial.com under obituaries.
