Germaine Delores Keiper, 94, of Palo, died Sunday, April 11, 2021, at West Ridge Care Center. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Murphy. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Per COVID-19 guidelines, attendees must wear masks and practice social distancing.

Survivors include seven children, Steve (Sherry) Keiper of Cedar Rapids, Ann (Rick) Schulte of Amana, Becky (Andrew) Schulte of Watkins, Jayme (Tami) Keiper of Palo, Jackie Keiper of Palo, Doug (Cheryl) Keiper of Fairfax and Terry (Becky) Keiper of Walford; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Firman (Barb) Stallman of Toddville and Bill Stallman of Fairfax; and her sister, Marge (Francis) Cejka of Fairfax.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loui,s in 2019; son, Greg, in 2012; five brothers and two sisters.

Germaine was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Fairfax the daughter of Charles and Margaret Schulte Stallman. She grew up on the family farm with her 11 brothers and sisters. Germaine met the love of her life, Louis Keiper, while he played baseball at Fairfax. They wed Feb. 3, 1951, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fairfax. Germaine and Louis spent their whole life farming, raising their family and loving every minute of it.

Germaine enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and husband of 68 years. She was very proud of the family Century Farm. Germaine was an incredibly faithful person and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. She attended masses regularly and always had her rosary ready to pray. Germaine will be remembered for her unconditional faith in God and love for her family. She was a caring, supportive and sassy wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
