Marvin Arthur Anderson, age 89, of Marengo, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at Rose Haven Nursing Home. Private family graveside services will be held. Public visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2021 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed in Marvin’s name to Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, or the American Legion Post 76, Marengo. Masks and social distancing are required.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 68 years, Violet (Starkweather) Anderson; four children, Randy (Jewel) Anderson, of Warrenburg, Missouri, Nora “Suzie” (Dennis) Miller, of Belle Plaine, Marvin L. (Erica) Anderson, of Ely, and Christine (Paul) Garringer, of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren Ben Anderson, Jayson Stull, Ashley (Brandon) Dietrich, Trenton (Ellie) Garringer, Anna (Michael) McMillan, Ryan Anderson, Nicolas Anderson and Baylee Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Kara, Mason and Lucas Dietrich, and Cash Anderson; three step-grandchildren, Jodi Hukriede, Justin Wiley and Jacob (Elise) Wiley.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul Anderson and Bertha Stanton, a granddaughter Jessica Anderson, two sisters Lucille and Pat, and two brothers Raymond and Faye.

Marvin was born March 15, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Paul and Bertha (Reece) Anderson. He was united in marriage to Violet Starkweather on October 25, 1952. Shortly after, Marvin joined the U.S. Army. The couple made their home in Marengo.

He worked at Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids for 40 years. Marvin was a member of the Marengo American Legion Post 76. He enjoyed gardening and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
