Carol Jean "Jeannie" Gallagher, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 1, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following complications from a stroke.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a rosary that will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home with a vigil service to follow. Friends not attending the rosary or vigil service may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be private services. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Per COVID-19 guidelines, all in attendance are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.

Jeannie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Patrick; sons, Brian (Tammy) Gallagher of Cedar Rapids and Shane (Sarah) Gallagher of Atkins; daughter, Tina Bean (Eric Schmitz) of Palo; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Desiree), Trina (David), Kile (Jenna), Logan, Chase (Kayla), Casey, Ry and Kale; six great-grandkids, Alek, Lilliana, Hayden, Sophia, Gannon and Maila; sisters, Alice (Ivan) Von Ahsen of Cedar Rapids and Kay (Ray) Comried of Marion; brother, Ron (Linda) Kahler of Monticello; sisters-in-law, Gerry Herr of Amana and Yvonne Kahler of Amana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Russell and Ralph Kahler; and sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor (Earl) Ealy. Jeannie was born Jan. 17, 1946, in Marengo, the daughter of Harry and Josephine Landuyt Kahler and graduated in 1964 from Jefferson High School. She married Patrick Gallagher III on July 25, 1964, at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Jeannie worked for 10 years at Collins Radio, was a wonderful babysitter for many children, and had worked as head housekeeper for the Holiday Inn. Jeannie adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and family and friend time was the most important part of her life. She loved a good glass of wine, morning walks and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Jeannie was a big fan of Elvis Presley, enjoyed fishing and trips to casinos. Jeannie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
