James “Pup” David Ackerman, formerly of North English, died on Tuesday Feb. 23, 2021 at his home in Wayland at the age of 59 years.

A Memorial Service was held 10:00 am on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation was held on Friday, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Powell Funeral Home. The memorial service was live streamed on the Powell Funeral Homes Facebook page and website.

James "Pup" David Ackerman was born January 5, 1962 in Sigourney, Iowa the son of Philip Hynes and Georgene LuEtta (Hintz) Ackerman. He graduated from English Valley High School in 1980 and attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Jim was a supervisor at Williamsburg Manufacturing for 25 years and later worked for Riverside Casino. On October 15, 2016, Jim was united in marriage to Corinna Clubb in North English.

Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Iowa Hawkeye fan, He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, playing games and cards and spending time with his boys.

Jim is survived by his wife Corinna of Wayland; children: Bryce and Bryan Ackerman of Wayland, Heather Ackerman of Williamsburg, David Ackerman of Cedar Rapids, Pat Neumiller of Wellman, Jacob Wonderlich of Ollie and Rachel (Derek) Fishel of Fairfield; five grandchildren Ayson, Jaxen, Declan, Logan and Gideon; four brothers Patrick Ackerman of North English, Timothy (Alice) Ackerman of Sparta, Wisconsin, Paul (Jane) Ackerman of North English and Alan (Mari) Ackerman of South English; and a sister Georgia (Greg) Gent of Wellman.

He was preceded by his parents; a daughter LeAnn Lillian Ackerman; and a brother Mark Ackerman.
