Robert L. Loffer, age 72, of Marengo passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at his home. Memorial Service was 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Interment will take place at Zion Cemetery, rural Ladora at a later date. Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2021 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.

A memorial fund has been established in Bob’s name. Masks and social distancing will be required at all services. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.klosterfuneralhome.com.

Robert Leon Loffer was born June 14, 1948 in Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Lloyd and Lorna Freel Loffer. He graduated High School from Plattsmouth, Nebraska with the class of 1966. Bob was united in marriage to Audrey Sietsema on December 21, 1968 in Tabor, Iowa.

Bob served the church in Aurelia while attending Buena Vista University in 1974. While receiving his Master of Divinity from Dubuque Theological Seminary in 1976 he served the church in Sherrill. The couple then moved to Marengo where Bob was a minister at Trinity United Church of Christ. He also ministered at Sebring, FL., and Lincoln, NE. Bob was an Associate Conference Minister for the Nebraska Conference of the United Church of Christ, Interim Minister in Geneseo and Canton, IL. Bob never retired he finished his call on Earth at Faith United Church of Christ in Iowa City.

Bob was a past member of the Masons and Eastern Star, Eagles Club, and a charter member of the Iowa County Food Bank. He was also a member of the Marengo Ministerial Association, Iowa County Democrats, Cobblestone Company, Iowa Valley School Board, and the Iowa Valley Booster Club. Bob enjoyed playing bridge and watching Nebraska and Iowa athletic sports events. He was a Chicago Cubs fan, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife Audrey; his children Michelle (David) Schachtlie of Marengo, Mark (Becky) Loffer of Marengo, Matthew (Jordan) Loffer of Marengo, Michael (Darcie) Loffer of Marengo, Melanie (Brock) Junkins of Presque Isle, ME., Merissa (Alex) Ganea of Dubuque, Charity (Heath) Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Christopher (Miranda) Loffer of Platteville, WI., Derek Loffer of Cedar Rapids, Leslee Loffer of Cedar Rapids and Shambria Loffer of Iowa City; 16 grandchildren Devin, Drew and Michaela Schachtlie, Bryce, Alexandra and Peyton Loffer, Jacob Loffer and Alexis Hansen; Jordan and Kylie Loffer, Connor and Callie Junkins, Aden and Londyn Ganea, Olivia Jensen, Sherra Bonnichsen and Greyson Loffer; one great-granddaughter Riley Ann Schachtlie; his siblings Kathy (Mark) Curtis of Tooele, UT., Jayn Lewis of Spokane, WA., Bill (Shelly) Loffer of Vincennes, IN., and Brad (Kim) Loffer of Bellvue, NE.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Tony Loffer; a granddaughter Izabella Loffer; and a nephew Nick Loffer.
