Russell A. Vorhies, age 74, of Marengo, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his home. A Celebration of Life and inernment will be held in the summer of 2021. In lieu of flowers Russ chose the Iowa County Fair Board, the Iowa Valley Community School Foundation or the donors choice for memorials.

Russell Allen Vorhies, the son of Harold Wesley and Edith (Bender) Vorhies was born March 11, 1946 in Fairfield, Iowa. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School and Davenport Barber College. He married Linda Sue Bradley on April 16, 1967. They were blessed with two children, Saundra and Matthew and three granddaughters Sara Braun, Kelly Braun, and Jillian Vorhies. Russ loved being a grandpa to them and countless daycare kids.

Russ served in the U.S. Army for two years., the Reserves for five years and two years in the National Guard. Defending our country and the flag were very important to Russ. He worked for 40 years in the foundry business in Fairfield. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Russ enjoyed bicycling, hunting and skeet shooting.

On May 24, 2015 he married Diane S. Miller and moved to Marengo. He became a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marengo and American Legion Post #76. He loved living on the farm and having coffee with "The Board" at Big G.

Those left to honor Russ's memory include his wife, Diane; daughter Saundra (Jeff) Yute; son Matthew (Melissa) Vorhies; his granddaughters Sara, Kelly and Jillian; his brother Mahlon (Ilene) Vorhies; his nephews, nieces and cousins; and his many friends.

Also remembering Russ with love are; David and Melissa Biundo, Taylor Biundo and Kenzie Biundo; Brian Miller and Emilee; Charlie Scott and Ann Bigbee, Catie Scott, Jessie Scott and Kyle Muckler; George and Kim Scott and Jamie Scott and Alex Scott. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda and his parents.
