Milford L. Collingwood, age 93 of Williamsburg, died Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg with Pastor Richard Meyer officiating. Visitation: 3:30 – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg. Burial: St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg.

Memorials may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice or Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg. Masks and social distancing will be required at all services. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Milford is survived by his wife Bernice of 68 years of Williamsburg; his children, Becky Hass (Donald) of Walford, Gary (Brenda) of Cedar Rapids, Jeneane Ackerman of Williamsburg, and Charlene Doehrmann (Doug) of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, Emily Hass, Sarah Nissen (Tim), Ryan Hass (Katie), Katie Hopkins (Josh), Amanda Malloy (Mark), Dan Ackerman, Nicholas Doehrmann (Melissa) and Kelsey Dahdaleh (Fadi); and a step granddaughter, Shelby Waybill; great grandchildren, Lander, Josey, and Kate Malloy, Ayden and Brynlee Doehrmann, Weston Hopkins, Reagan Hass, and baby Dahdaleh, due in May; and a step great grandson Jay Nissen. Also surviving are his brother, Hawley Collingwood of Belle Plaine, his sister, Marva Wilson of Des Moines and a sister-in-law Helen Barta of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gerald and Sylvan, and four sisters, Velma Hofmaster, Dorothy Rusbult, Doris VonAhsen, and Gladys Kempfert.

Milford Laverne Collingwood was born on April 10, 1927 in rural Wellman, Iowa, the son of Roy and Emily Faas Collingwood. He attended the Bunker Hill School, rural Wellman, through 8th grade. Milford served in the U.S. Navy from April 1945 through July 1946, during World War II. He returned home and began his farming career in the Millersburg area.

On February 19, 1952, Milford and Bernice Barta were united in marriage at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg. The couple raised four children. In the late 70’s, Milford went to work at Amana Refrigeration, retiring from there in 1992. Following retirement, he returned to what he loved farming, working part time with Daryl Blythe on his farm. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He especially liked going to the mountains and camping with his family. Milford was known to many to be ornery and loved to tease.
