Ruth Gitt McConohy,79, of 515 17th St. SE, died Friday in Mercy Medical Center. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Immaculate Conception Church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Stewart Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 8.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Thiher and Mary Colston, both of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Helen Leahy of Parnell. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Born Aug. 24, 1912, in Pilot, Iowa, to Homer and Margaret Andes, she married C.W. Gitt in November 1936; he died in December 1953. She married Joseph McConohy in February 1959; he died in April 1972. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Janice and Sharon. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
The Rev. Karl Glovik will officiate.
