Cynthia Ann Peska, age 83, of Marengo, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at Compass Memorial Hospital, Marengo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2020, with Father David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established. Masks and social distancing are required at all services.

Cynthia is survived by her son Mike (Robin) Peska, of Marengo; a daughter-in-law Marina Peska, of Marengo; four grandchildren, April (Neil) Berthiaume, Brandon (Callie) Peska, Chad (Brooke) Peska, and Marcus (Britani) Peska; eight great-grandchildren, Amelia Berthiaume, Jace, Kade and Macy Peska, Layne and Carsen Peska, Bella Peska and Luke Peska; two step, great-grandchildren, Brittany (Daniel) Smith and Brianna Berthiaume; a brother, Dave (Denise) Albert.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delbert, a son Mark, three grandchildren, Christopher, Jillian and Justine Peska, and her brother Jack.

Cynthia Albert was born August 23, 1937, in Marengo, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Lipsius) Albert. She received her education from Pleasant Valley Elementary School and graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1957. Cynthia grew up on a farm west of Marengo where she acquired her love for animals. She was united in marriage to Delbert Lee Peska on November 8, 1958 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Marengo.

She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Church Altar and Rosary. Cynthia was a homemaker and also worked in housekeeping at various places, as well as in the lunchroom at the high school. In her early years, she enjoyed sewing and tending to her garden and flower beds, especially her peach tree. She loved camping and taking care of her cats and any strays that came along. Cynthia was proud of her family and especially loved baking cookies with her grandchildren.
