Ambrose J. Kaalberg, age 98, of Marengo passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. A private memorial service will be held at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo., with Father Corey Close officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ambrose John Kaalberg was born December 2, 1921, the son of Frank and Frances VanAken Kaalberg. He attended Lone Tree Country School. Ambrose was united in marriage to Janet Miller on July 24, 1954 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa. He drove a straight truck for Sears Company making deliveries. He also worked as a cabinet fitter at Rockwell Collins for 33 years.

Ambrose loved listening to music and going dancing with his wife, Janet. He enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, playing cards, chess and watching the birds when they came to the feeders. Ambrose especially enjoyed having family cookouts. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Janet, and many family and friends.

Ambrose is survived by his beloved wife, Janet, his children, Judy (Larry) Madsen of Marengo, Brook (Greg) Noble of Marion, Jewelly Kaalberg of Dubuque, and Joe (Stacy) Kaalberg of Cascade; seven grandchildren, Adam and Nick Dye, Dustin, Christian and Cameron Weber, and Tyler and Andrew Kaalberg; a great granddaughter, Nevaeh Weber; also surviving are several nieces and nephews; a brother, Kenneth (Gloria) Kaalberg and two sisters, Pauline Murphy and Loretta Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Jessica Kaalberg, a sister, Cecelia Kaalberg, two brothers, Frank Kaalberg and Anthony Kaalberg in infancy.
