Monte Dean Preston, age 79, Father of 3, died from natural causes in Thousand Oaks California on September 13th 2020.

Monte Dean Preston was born on January 19, 1941, in the small town of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Monte was the son to the late George and Blanche Preston. Monte grew up in Belle Plaine receiving most of his education there and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. After High School, Monte joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1958 to 1962. Monte and his late wife Donna married in 1963 and made Southern California their home.

In 1963, Monte began his long career for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier. Through the years, Monte advanced his career with the Postal Service to become a supervisor and finally becoming a Post Master in the city of Moorpark, California, where he retired in the early 1990’s. After retirement, Monte stayed very involved with the retired Postmasters Club. Monte’s youngest son John S Preston passed away on August 6th 2020.

In the early years, Monte’s past time included lots of fishing and many trips back to Iowa to enjoy hunting season and visit with friends. As a young man, Monte really enjoyed growing up on his grandmother’s farmland and enjoyed the small town lifestyle. Monte is survived by his two sons, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Monte also loved to collect Pheasant ornaments, or anything that had a Pheasant on it.

Monte really loved his home, tending to the garden and remodeling. Monte liked his weekly TV game shows and enjoyed the movies. Monte was a hard working person and a loving, caring father, grandfather, and spouse. Monte was loved by many. His friends and family will miss him very much.

Monte is survived by his two sons, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Monte’s youngest son John S. Preston passed away on Aug. 6, 2020.
