Maxine L. Wardenburg, age 87, of Williamsburg passed away in her daughter Valerie’s home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 8, 2020. Private family funeral services will be held. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Memorials may be contributed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, or the Lutheran Interparish School, Williamsburg.

We will be celebrating Maxine’s life with an open house from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Brian Wardenburg’s home: 2811 225th St., Williamsburg. Please bring your lawn chairs. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Rodger) Bohrn of Williamsburg, Kevin (Jean) of Williamsburg, Brian (Margaret) of Williamsburg, Valerie (Leon) Snyder of Parnell, Andrea (Scott) Huedepohl of Waterford, WI, and Eric (Rhonett) of North English; 15 grandchildren, Angela (Kirk) Hilleman, Michael (Cindy) Bohrn, John (Sarini) Wardenburg, Josh Wardenburg, Kyle (Brooke) Wardenburg, Emily Wardenburg, Jason (Jorden) Wardenburg, Madalyn Wardenburg, Nicole Wardenburg, Ann (Brian) Walsh, Rachel Snyder, Aaron Huedepohl, Jacob (Vitoria) Huedepohl, Erica Wardenburg and Alison Wardenburg; and 14 great grandchildren, Brooke, Jordan, Kelsie, Kylie, Derek, Seyja, Bentley, Gavin, Will, Grayson, Emmamaye, Daxson, Renley, Sawyer, and Baby Walsh on the way. Maxine is also survived by her sister Ida McSkimming and a sister-in-law Elda Shine.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harvey in 2007, a brother John, and three sisters Mary Lorenz, Jean McMurray and Joyce Wells.

Maxine Schlotterback was born December 25, 1932 in Newhall, Iowa the daughter of Walter and Esther Lensch Schlotterback. She graduated from Marion High School. Maxine was united in marriage to Harvey Wardenburg on May 31, 1953 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.

She was a homemaker, worked in insurance and at Williamsburg Manufacturing. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. Maxine enjoyed embroidery, camping, making quilt blocks, playing board games and doing puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family and was known for baking her famous chocolate chip cookies
